I had grand plans for this weekend. I was going to do all the things, catch up on writing, get ahead with projects, maybe even write the perfect blog post (ha). Oh, and I’m off to Edinburgh for a 24-hour hen do as well.
But here’s the thing: my body has other ideas.
It’s been a big week.
I’m still recovering from a minor operation the week before.
The boy just went back to school, his first time back since November.
And there’s been some absolutely brilliant, soul-filling client work.
But also? It’s been a lot.
So I’m not going to push through and pretend I’m a robot. I’m not writing a polished, insightful blog post this weekend, I’m writing this instead. Because sometimes the most important thing to say is simple:
Listen to your body. Not everything is urgent.
It’s that old cliché, but it’s true, you can’t pour from an empty cup. And lately, it’s felt like I’ve been carrying around a to-do list made of rocks. Heavy. Relentless. So I’m taking a moment to ask: which rocks actually need carrying right now? Which ones are essential? And which ones can I gently set down, just for a bit?
I hope you find a way to do the same.
Wishing you a restful, kind-to-yourself weekend.
And remember -
“Rest is resistance. Rest is a form of resistance because it disrupts and pushes back against capitalism and white supremacy. It is a counter-narrative. We are enough. Our bodies are enough. Resting is our divine right.”

Can’t pour from an empty cup. I will try to remember that.
