I think we're particularly bad at that living in an island nation with no recent history of invasion - I notice the stark contrast when I travel to Scandinavia & suspect Eastern Europe feels similar.
But as you say - protection starts with the self & it's not easy to strike the right balance.

Eileen Gu’s response to reporters about their ridiculous perspective on her 2 Silver medals.
